You know that friend who disappears for months, doesn’t reply to the group chat, misses two weddings and a naming ceremony, then shows up one random Tuesday with “Abeg, how far? Long time o!”?
Yeah. That’s us. Hi. 👋🏾
We’ve been quiet for a while, and we’re not going to pretend we were on a spiritual retreat in the mountains. We were heads-down: rebuilding, sharpening our tools, tidying up the studio and doing the kind of work that doesn’t always make it to Instagram. Now we’re back, better, and properly ready to take on new projects.
So, what’s new at Bami Studios?
For starters, you’re reading this on our brand-new website. Go on, look around. Click the hamburger menu. Wave your mouse over the homepage and meet our little cartoon crew. We’ll wait.
We’ve also refreshed our projects page with some of the work we’re proudest of: full brand identities, websites, packaging, social media, email newsletters and more. If you’ve been wondering what we actually do all day, that’s the place to start.
And the big one: our calendar is open. Whether you need a website that finally works on your customers’ phones, a brand that doesn’t look like it was designed during a power cut, content that people actually stop scrolling for, videos, social media or a proper marketing push, we’re ready.
Meanwhile, in Nigeria…
Being away from the blog didn’t mean we stopped paying attention. Nigeria remains the most entertaining country on earth, and nobody can convince us otherwise. A few things we’ve noticed while we were gone:
- “UP NEPA!” is still the loudest, most united cheer in the country. No football match comes close.
- “I’m on my way” continues to mean anything from “I’m outside” to “I haven’t had my bath yet.”
- Every family group chat has at least one uncle who forwards a 14-paragraph broadcast message before 6am, ending with “Send to 10 people or…”
- Everyone is now an economist. Your barber has a theory about the exchange rate. Your mechanic has a five-year plan for the country. Respect.
- Traffic in Lagos is still where time goes to die, and Abuja traffic is quietly trying to catch up.
And yes… election season is loading
You can feel it in the air. Elections are drawing near and everybody is a little on edge. Every conversation finds its way back to politics: at the barbershop, in the danfo, at the office, at your cousin’s wedding (right between the small chops and the cake). Group chats that used to share recipes now share long, passionate analysis. Friendships are being tested. Tensions are high and patience is low.
We’re not here to tell you who to vote for. That’s your business and your right. What we will say is this: be informed, be kind, double-check before you forward that “breaking news”, and maybe mute the group chat once in a while for the sake of your blood pressure.
And a small tip for the business owners reading this: seasons like this are exactly when brands need to be thoughtful. One badly timed post can cause more wahala than it’s worth. If you’re unsure how your brand should show up while everyone is tense, talk to us. Helping brands get their tone right is literally part of the job.
What to expect from us now
This blog is going to be our little corner of the internet, with stories on work, life and everything in between. Expect behind-the-scenes looks at our projects, honest tips for growing your brand, the occasional rant about fonts, and plenty of laughs about the beautiful chaos of living and working in Nigeria.
We’ll be showing up more often. Promise. (And unlike that friend, we actually mean it.)
We’re really glad you’re here
Whether you’re a long-time friend of the studio, a brand owner with a big idea, or someone who just wandered in from Instagram, thank you for reading. We’re happy to have you, and we hope to keep you entertained, inspired and maybe even a little bit smarter, one post at a time.
Got a project in mind? Start a project with us. Or just say hi. We missed you. 💛
With love, Bamz
